Command Based Query

The Command Based Query provides the most powerful, highly flexible search, with a range of operators for refining queries. It uses the complete Perceptive Search Query Syntax to create more detailed and sophisticated searches than Menu-Assisted or Natural Language queries. To perform a Command Based Query:

Select Query > Command Based from the menu, or press [CTRL-K] on your keyboard. The Command Based Query window opens.

  1. To construct your query, type in your search terms separated by operators in the Perceptive Search Query syntax. These can be:
  2. Use the Word Wheel if you are unsure about the spelling or existence of a word in your index.
  3. When you have constructed the query to your satisfaction, click OK or press [Enter] on your keyboard. Perceptive Search will run your search and display a list of documents matching your query.
