New Index | Launches the indexing wizard. You need to index your documents before you can search them. |
Open Index | Allows you to select an index to search. (Ctrl + O) |
New Tab | Opens a new tab window at the end of the tab list. (Ctrl + N) |
Close Active Tab | Closes the tab window that is currently in focus / open. (Ctrl + F4) |
Close All Tabs | Closes all open tab windows, and leaves a blank tab window open. (Ctrl + X) |
Load Search Results | Open a list of results previously saved to disk. (Ctrl + L) |
Save Search Results | Save a file containing the results of the current search to disk. (Ctrl + D) |
Print Setup | Set up printer options such as location, paper size and orientation. |

Copy | Save a copy of the selected file to a specified folder. (Ctrl + C) |

Command Based | Construct a complex search using the full range of the query syntax. (Ctrl + K) |
Web Style Query | Similar to Command Based queries, but instead of using the query syntax, uses a search syntax commonly used on the Internet. (Ctrl + W) |
Natural Language | Allows you to type a question or sentence in natural language, then uses a complex associative system to find results. (Ctrl + E) |
Menu-Assisted | Allows you to construct simple or complex queries using Boolean operators. (Ctrl + M) |
Custom Query Forms | Create your own query dialogs that can be tweaked to suit the type of data you are searching. (Ctrl + Q) |
Browse Taxonomy | Perform queries on any Concept Taxonomies set up using Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console. (Ctrl + Y) |
Saved Query List | Perform a previously saved query. Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console allows you to save queries for later or repeated use. (Ctrl + ALT + S) |
Query <text> / Paste query from clipboard | Performs a search on the value that is currently stored in the clipboard. Where as <text> may be replaced by the value in the clipboard. (Ctrl + ALT + V) |
History > ... | Displays your most recent searches, allowing you to re-execute it. |

Content Sources... | Allows you to configure rules to index your file system, emails, websites, databases and document management systems. |
Create | Builds a pre-configured index. |
Update | Scans your directories to see which documents have been added, deleted or modified and then updates the index accordingly. |
Reindex | Completely rebuilds all the files in your index. You must perform a Reindex if you have changed certain index options, are upgrading from another version of Perceptive Enterprise Search or if an index has become corrupted. |
Delete Index... | Allows you to delete an index. |
Advanced > Preview | Allows you to see how many documents will be affected by the work involved in an update, without actually performing it. |
Advanced > Optimize | Rebuilds your index for maximum retrieval speed and minimum disk space. |
Advanced > Add | Scan through the documents in the index checking for new files only, bypassing any documents that have been modified or deleted since the last update. |
Advanced > Recategorize | Used to rebuild all the automatically generated categories or add user defined categories to an index. |
Advanced > Purge Deleted | Process the deleted items in the index reclaiming index space for future use. This option is only enabled if there are items marked as deleted in the current index. |
Advanced > Refresh Security | Reload all the cached security descriptors for the documents in the currently selected index. This option is only enabled if the "Cache file security information" option is enabled for the index. |
Advanced > Reindex from website mirror... | Rebuilds your index based on the data in one of the website's mirrors. |
Advanced > Refresh metadata | Reload all the metadata for the documents in the currently selected index. |
Advanced > Regenerate Sort Accelerators | Regenerates the sort accelerators. |
Statistics > Common Words | Shows a list of common words for the current index. |
Statistics > Document List | Outputs the names of all the documents that make up the current index. |
Statistics > Word Frequency | A report that specifies how many times a specified word appears in the selected index. |
Statistics > Index Statistics | A general summary of information about the index, including numbers of words and documents, significant and insignificant characters, creation date and last update statistics. |
Statistics > Permit Status | A summary of user permit information, including number of active permits and number of available permits. |
Document Formats | Allows you to choose which file formats are indexed. |
Categories... | Launches the category editor in which you can add, edit or delete your index categories. |
Concept Taxonomy... | Launches the Concept Taxonomy window. |
Sections... | Allows you to specify paragraphs or other sections within documents, which can then be used as search parameters. |
Synonyms... | Open the Synonym Rings window, which allows you to set up associative word listings to help fine-tune your searches. |
Publication Optimize | Rebuilds your index for distribution on removable media. |
Index Options... | Allows you to configure your index. |

Open | Opens the selected document in the Document Browser. |
Open document folder | Opens the directory of the selected document. |
Launch | Opens the selected document using its native application. (F4) |
Hide | Removes the selected file from the current results list. (DEL) |
Save As > Original... | Saves the select document(s) in their original format to a location of your choosing. |
Save As > Text... | Exports the text rendition of the select document(s) to a location of your choosing. |
Save As > HTML5... | Exports the HD HTML 5 rendition of the select document(s) to a location of your choosing. |
Save As > PDF... | Exports the HD PDF rendition of the select document(s) to a location of your choosing. |
Save As > TIFF... | Exports the HD multi-page TIFF rendition of the select document(s) to a location of your choosing. |
Print the current result list or a selected document. | |
Sort... | Set sorting options for displaying results of the current search. (Ctrl + R) |
Clear | Clears the results of the current search from the screen. |
Group | Provides hierarchical grouping of the documents based on whichever column you have chosen to sort on. For example, if you are sorting by date, Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console will provide groups of "Today", "This week", and so on. |
Expand All | This displays all the documents for every group. |
Collapse All | This hides all the results, leaving only the group headings visible. |
Flag Document > | Mark and/or unmark selected documents with a colored flag. This can be used to represent a document's importance or as a reminder to review a particular file. Flags will be retained for future searches, even if you close Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console. |
Flagged > | For your currently flagged documents, allows you to save as, print or hide. |
Macros > Show Macros | Brings up the macro form which lists all available macros and allows you to execute them. |

Control Bar | Shows/Hides the control bar down the left. |
Result List | Displays the files according to the columns selected. |
Context of Hits | Displays your search terms within the context of their document. |
Show Preview | Displays a preview area in the bottom half of the main window, showing the contents of each document in the result list. |
Show Refine Tree | When this option is selected, the refine tree will be displayed on the right hand side of its main window. |
Show Date Bar | When this option is selected, the Date Bar is shown at the top of the result list. |
Refinement Panel > Categories | Toggle on/off the document categories under the Refine Tree. |
Refinement Panel > People | Toggle on/off the most frequently detected names under the Refine Tree. |
Refinement Panel > Organizations | Toggle on/off the most frequently detected companies under the Refine Tree. |
Refinement Panel > Emails | Toggle on/off the most frequently detected email addresses under the Refine Tree. |
Refinement Panel > Locations | Toggle on/off the most frequently detected locations under the Refine Tree. |

Agent > Mark All as Read | Mark all the documents in the list as read, even if you haven't read them. These documents will not appear next time the Agent displays a search result. |
Agent > Mark All as Unread | Mark all the documents in the list as unread, even if you have read them. These documents will reappear next time the Agent displays a search result. |
Agent > Mark as Read | Mark the currently selected document as read. |

Common Word List... | Opens the Common Word List to add, edit, or delete common words. |
Upgrade Catalog... | Upgrades your catalog files that were created in earlier versions of Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console. |
Extract... | Extract the results of a query to the Windows clipboard, a printer or to a file. |
Add to Saved Queries... | Add the current query to the Saved Queries list to execute the same search in the future. (Ctrl + S) |
