Batch Indexing Tool

The Batch Index Processing wizard allows Administrators to quickly and easily perform the same action on multiple indexes, such as Updating or Reindexing to upgrade.

In addition to being able to perform standard index actions, the Batch Index Processing tool allows Administrators to quickly create a chained index file.

Standard Index Actions

  1. Select an index action to perform. These actions will behave in the same way as they would if they were scheduled, with the difference being that they are applied to more than one index.
  2. Click the 'Select' button to nominate the indexes that will be processed. You can add multiple indexes using either the catalog or disk directory. All the selected indexes will be listed for review. Once all required indexes are listed click 'Next'.
  3. Specify a path to store the index operations log. The activity of all the indexes will be written to this single file. You can also choose to open this log file once indexing has completed. If a Reindex is being performed, you are also given the option to create a backup of the indexes. This backup will be stored as a zip file inside the index directory. This is particularly useful when upgrading to a new version of Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console.
  4. Confirm that all the settings are correct. If there is anything you wish to modify click the 'Back' button, otherwise click 'Finish' to begin indexing.

Create a Static Chain

This option provides a user friendly method of creating a chained index that can be added to the index catalog.

  1. Click the 'Select' button to nominate the indexes that will be processed. You can add multiple indexes using either the catalog or disk directory. All the selected indexes will be listed for review. Once all required indexes are listed click 'Next'.

NOTE: You can not mix unicode and non-unicode indexes in a static chain.

  2. Specify a folder where the static chain file will be created. This can not be a directory that already contains an index. Provide a name and optional description for the chained index and choose whether to add this index to the catalog. Click 'Next'.
  3. Confirm that all the settings are correct. If there is anything you wish to modify click the 'Back' button, otherwise click 'Finish' to create the static chain.
