Allows you to add or edit a User Defined Category.
To add a new category:
This is the name by which you want the category to appear in the query result list, for example, "Marketing", or "Jim's documents".
These are the matching rules that determine whether a document falls into this category.
You may use a wildcard match against the document file name (including the path), or against a nominated metadata field.
For example, you might choose to match "*\products\*" against the file name, thereby creating a category for everything in the products directory. Alternatively, create a rule that matches against the metadata field of "Author", looking for a value of "Jim".
Another option is to determine the category directly from a metadata field. In this case, you enter the name of the metadata field and Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console will use exactly its content as the categories. For example, the metadata field "Department" might give rise to categories of "Marketing", "Accounts" and "Sales". This is done through a single rule, rather than creating separate rules for each possible value of the Department metadata field. For this situation, you specify a Category Name of "*", which means just use the contents of the field. Additionally, you may use extra characters as well as the "*", in which case the extra characters embellish the metadata value. For example, a category name of "From the * guys" might create categories of "From the Marketing guys", "From the Sales guys", etc.
You may have many category rules all pointing to the same category name, for example, the "Marketing" category may have three different rules, one looking for an Author of "Jim", another for "Mary", and yet another for "Ted". Of course, it would be preferable to use a more direct rule if possible, rather than mention the names of individuals.
Determines whether you want documents in this category to be more relevant or less relevant, relative to other found documents. This can be useful, for example, to bias documents from the "products" section of your website towards the top of the document list.
