Managing my indexing rules

Each index has a set of rules that control what will be added to the index. Perceptive Search supports indexing for many different systems, so each system must be configured independently.

To view the indexing rules for your index:

1. Open the index you wish to modify, you can do this by either:
   • Selecting it from the My Index Catalog list
   • Select File > Open an Index from the menu and browse to the location where the index is stored
2. From the menu, select Index > Content Sources, the indexing rules for your index will be shown

1. Indexing Rule Types
   Contains the list of indexing rule types supported by Perceptive Search, select the rule type to see the list of rules in the Rule List.
2. Toolbar
   The toolbar is used to add, edit and delete the rules for the selected rule type. Most rule types implement the following buttons:
   Add a new rule of this type
   Edit the selected rule
   Delete the selected rule
3. Rule List
   Contains the list of rules for the currently selected rule type.
