Distributing index files

If you wish to distribute your index files to other users, it may be a good idea to perform an Optimize. This will ensure that the files you distribute use minimum disk space and maximize the speed of access.

The files you need to include when distributing an index are:

ISYS.IXA
ISYS.IXB
ISYS.IXC
ISYS.CFG

File that should be included if present

ISYS.IXD
ISYS.IXE
ISYS.IXF
ISYS.CAT

These files are all contained in the index directory.

The .CFG file need only contain the following entries:

• Index Name - For identification purposes
• AnnotationDrive - Provides details of where annotations are stored (if different to index directory)
• PathToDocs - If splitting indexes and documents over different drives
• ImagesWithDocs Set - If Annotation Drive is set.

Unless the remote site has a full copy of Perceptive Search and will be Creating, Updating or Reindexing the index, other configuration entries are not necessary.
