Scheduling Maintenance

The scheduler allows you to perform periodic maintenance on your indexes. With the scheduler, you can choose to Update or Reindex your indexes on a Daily, Weekly or Monthly basis.

Each time you create a new index, you are given the opportunity to create a daily schedule for it. You can also add to or edit the scheduled items at anytime.

The scheduler has been simplified, but can now handle a larger number of scheduled tasks. No longer do you need to specify a start time for the action to take place, will handle this for you automatically ensuring that no two indexes are updated at the same time.

All scheduled index maintenance runs within the Index Maintenance Start and End time. Each day the scheduler "wakes up" at these times to check if there are any pending updates, it will process indexes from oldest to youngest, applying each action in turn. If it does not finish the tasks before the end time, the remaining tasks are held over to the next day.

To use the scheduler, you must also run the Perceptive Search Start Center, this adds an icon into your system tray which is responsible for starting the scheduled tasks.
