Email Indexing Wizard - POP/IMAP

To configure Perceptive Search to index your POP or IMAP server, you must provide details for the mail server. Please note that if you use POP for your every day mail, you should use an email rule for your preferred email client.

Server Type

Select the type of email server you wish to use, it can either be:

• POP3 - most common for individual internet mail. Only choose this option if you have configured your mail client to "leave messages on the server". If your mail client "pops" the messages, without leaving them on the server, there will be nothing for Perceptive Search to index.
• IMAP - imap is designed to leave messages on a central server, you mail client is lighter weight and you can access your messages anywhere.

Mail Server

Enter the host name or IP address of your mail server, you can also specify the port number if a non-standard port is used.

Use secure connection (SSL)

If you mail provider requires a secure connection, check this box to have Perceptive Search communicate securely with the server.

Credentials

Enter the username and password as provided by your mail provider.

Index attachments as well as email contents

Instructs Perceptive Search to index the attachments as well as the email messages. Perceptive Search will only index the attachments that correspond to one of the "File Types" specified for this index.

If you are configuring an IMAP rule, click Next to select the IMAP folders. If you are configuring a POP rule, click Finish to save the email indexing rule.
