Perceptive Enterprise Search provides a Search Designer. The designer gives you a live view of your website but also includes contextual information about the current view. For example, when viewing search results you are shown which documents users are viewing and what they are searching for next.
The Search Designer analyzes your SearchTrends data to provide a useful snapshot of information relevant to the page you are currently viewing. This allows you to easily act on this information by allowing you to create synonyms or Best Bets on the fly.
Each website has its own search designer. It is accessible from:
The search designer will open a new window; you must have pop-ups enabled in your
web browser.
The search designer is split into two sections. On the right is your website. On the left is the designer panel. The designer panel will change to show relevant information as you navigate through your website or perform searches.
On the home page, a general roll-up of site statistics is shown. These include:
Top Searches | The searches that have been most popular on your website in the last month. |
Searches with No Views | Shows the searches where results have been found but none of the documents have been viewed. This may indicate that the user has not found what they are looking for and a Best Bet may be required. |
Searches with No Results | Shows the searches that produced no results. This may indicate that a synonym needs to be created. |
Search Activity | Shows the activity of the search engine in the last month. |
Clicking any of the searches will execute that search inside your website and present you with the results.
Once you have performed a search, the Search Designer will change to show you the details of this search.
The information includes:
Most Popular Next Search | Based on your Search Trends, this shows the most popular search that is executed after the current search. |
Most Viewed Document | Based on your Search Trends, this shows the documents that most users are viewing as a result of this search. |
Best Bets | This indicates any Best Bets that are present for this search. It also allows you to edit them. For adding a new Best Bet see Adding Best Bets via the Search Designer |
Synonyms | This allows you to quickly add a synonym of the current search. A dialog will be shown where you can enter the alternative terms to add as synonyms. |
The document view is shown when you select a document. The option offered here is to create the document as a Best Bet.
