Site Designer

Perceptive Enterprise Search provides a Site Designer. The site designer allows you to make customizations to your website without modifying HTML. With the site designer you can modify site wide variables, hide or show particular parts of a web page, change the themes or even change colors of particular elements.

Each website has its own site designer. It is accessible from:

The site designer will open a new window; you must have pop-ups enabled in your web browser.

The site designer is split into two sections. On the right is your website. On the left is the designer panel. The designer panel will change to show relevant information as you navigate through your website or perform searches.

The site designer will group common options together. These groups can be expanded or collapsed as required. The check box options are sections of the website that can be hidden. To hide a section simply uncheck that option and click "Apply".

Home Page

On the home page the following options are included:

Site Name Allows you to set the site name as show in the header bar.
Site Theme Allows you to change the site wide theme. This will change the look and feel of your website with a few clicks.
Show concept taxonomy Indicates if the concept taxonomy should be shown on the front page.
Show search options Indicates if the search options, such as Menu-Assisted, Advanced and Natural Language should be displayed on the home page.  You can allow hide/show individual elements.
Select Indexes By default all indexes are available for use on your website.  This option enables you to pick the indexes you want to externalize to your users.
Edit this page This gives you access to the underlying HTML code for editing.
Header Image On certain themes it is possible to choose which header image you wish to show.
Background Color On certain themes it is possible to change the background color of the theme.

You must click "Apply" to have your changes take affect.

Results View

Once you have performed a search the Site Designer will change to allow you to customize the results view.

The customizations include:

Results Theme Allows you to change the results theme. This will change the look and feel of your result list with a few clicks.
Sort Bar The sort bar allows your users to resort a result list in a new order.  This selection allows you to show/hide the sort bar options. You can also hide/show individual items in the sort bar.
Result Page Selector The result page selector allows your users to jump to particular pages in the result list.  This allows you to show/hide the search page selector shown at the bottom of the result list.
Navigation Panel The navigation panel is shown at the side of the result list and contains search refinement options such as categories and entities.  This allows you to show/hide the navigation panel at the side of the result list. Alternatively, you can show/hide individual items in the navigation panel.
Show Icon Allows you to show/hide the icon for each document in the result list.
Show Relevance Bar Allows you to show/hide the relevance bar for each document in the result list.
Relevance Bar Type When the relevance bar is visible, this allows you to change how it is shown, Standard, Stars or Boxes.
Relevance Bar Color When the relevance bar is in Standard or Boxes mode, this allows you to change the color of the bar.
Show Document ... Allows you to show/hide individual document attributes from the result list.
Create Synonym Allows you to create a synonym for the current search.

Document View

When you select a document from the result list the Site Designer will change to allow you to customize the document view.

The customizations include:

Document Theme Allows you to change the document theme. This will change the look and feel of your document view with a few clicks.
Navigation Bar The navigation bar is the panel that allows you to switch between document views such as "View", "Download" and "Details".  This allows you to show/hide the navigation bar. You can also hide/show individual items in the navigation bar.
Document Header The document header is the panel that display the Icon, Title and Filename.  This selection allows you to show/hide the document header. You can also hide/show individual items in the header.
Search Terms The search terms is a list of terms that allows you to jump to the first occurrence of that document in the result list.  This allows you to show/hide the search terms panel.
Entities The entities panel is shown at the side of the document when entities are enabled and present. It allows your users to jump to the first occurrence of the given entity.  This allows you to show/hide the entity list from the document view.
Make Best Bet This allows you to create a Best Bet for the current document and the search term that found it.
