MIME Types

Perceptive Enterprise Search is pre-configured with a number of common MIME types. However, if you are using Perceptive Enterprise Search with non-HTML legacy data and plan to make use of viewer plug-ins, you may have to add additional MIME types for your document formats. Perceptive Enterprise Search provides a draft-mode rendition for all non-HTML documents, automatically converting them to HTML as they are requested. MIME types apply when you want to serve the legacy document, in its original format, for viewing with a browser plug-in or with a client application.

The server maps MIME types to files according to the file extension. To add additional MIME types, click the "Add MIME Type" button. Then supply the file name extension and the MIME type to which it is mapped.

The "Compress" option indicates whether the given file type supports being compressed before being served. If unsure, leave this option disabled.
