Acuo Cross Community Gateway Manager manages Web Services and other application related configuration options to support Initiating Gateway and Responding Gateway functionalities for Cross Community Access (XCA), Cross Community Document Reliable Interchange (XCDR), Cross-Community Fetch (XCF), Cross-Community Access for Imaging (XCA-I), and Cross-Community Patient Discovery (XCPD) transactions.

The application can act as an Initiating Gateway for a single community at runtime. However, it can be configured to act as Responding Gateways for multiple communities simultaneously.

The XCA profile supports the means to query and retrieve medical data of a patient held by other communities.

The XCF profile provides a way of caching documents and metadata of other communities thereby speeding up information retrieval process.

The XCA-I profile supports the means to retrieve medical image data of a patient held by other communities and extends the XCA profile for imaging. XCA provides access to diagnostic reports and imaging manifests, whereas XCA-I provides access to images referenced in the imaging manifests.

The XCDR Profile provides the capability to send a set of documents in a Cross-Community environment. It specifies the transaction to push documents from an Initiating Gateway of a source Community to the Responding Gateway of a target Community. XCDR extends the deployment of a community organized around an XDS Document Registry and Repository(s) by allowing both Document Source Actors within this XDS based community, and also those in different communities to act as a source of documents.

The XCPD profile supports the means to locate communities that hold patient relevant health data and the translation of patient identifiers across communities holding the same patient's data. Such communities may be Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) affinity domains which define image sharing using the XDS-I profile. This profile addresses sharing between such communities.

Apart from Cross Community transactions, Acuo Cross Community Gateway Manager can also act as an intermediate Registry or Repository or Imaging Source endpoint for Document Consumers or Document Sources or Imaging Consumers, allowing them to have a single entry point for such same community transactions while managing the configurations for the actual services at its own end. The application also provides a test suite which can act as pseudo Document Consumer, XCPD Client application and XCA-I Client application, with limited functionalities. The test suite can be accessed from the MMC Console.
