As an administrator, you can configure which menu options for files or folders are available to users in the Mobile Workspace.

To configure menu options, you must install Kubectl or other tool for managing containerized applications. For complete instructions on installing Kubectl, see its official website available at https://kubernetes.io and navigate to the Download Kubernetes section.

You can disable or enable menu options as needed by configuring the app.config.json file, which is connected to your server instance.

Note: By default, all menu options are enabled and available to users.

To disable or enable menu options for files and folders:

  1. Access your server instance running in a Kubernetes cluster using Kubectl or other tool for managing containerized applications.
    For more information on Kubernetes commands, see the official Kubernetes website available at https://kubernetes.io/.
  2. Retrieve the list of pods in the acs namespace by entering the following command:
    kubectl get pod -n acs
    All the pods in the acs namespace are listed.
  3. Copy the app.config.json file from the pod to your local machine using the kubectl cp command:
    kubectl cp <namespace>/<pod_name>:/path/in/pod /path/to/local/destination

    For example:

    kubectl cp acs/acs.alfresco-dw-9h876k35k2-tm6y3:/etc/nginx.conf.d/app.config.json /User/andrew.lincoln/Desktop/app.config.json
    The app.config.json file is copied from the pod's directory to the local machine's directory.
  4. Open the saved app.config.json file in a plain-text editor, such as Notepad.
  5. Navigate to the end of the app.config.json file's content.
  6. Copy the following features_mobile section and paste it at the end of the file's content.
    "features_mobile":{
            "menu":[
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.addFavourite",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.removeFavourite",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.rename",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.move",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.openWith",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.download",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.trash",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.addOffline",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.removeOffline",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.restore",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.permanentlyDelete",
                "enabled":true
              },
              {
                "id" : "app.menu.startProcess",
                "enabled":true
              }
            ]
          }
    The features_mobile section is placed at the end of the file's content, after the analytics section, as shown in the following image:

  10. Once all the changes are completed, save the app.config.json file.
  11. Copy the app.config.json file from your local machine to the same pod it was copied from using the kubectl cp command:
    kubectl cp /path/to/local/destination <namespace>/<pod_name>:/path/in/pod/

    For example:

    kubectl cp /User/andrew.lincoln/Desktop/app.config.json acs/acs.alfresco-dw-9h876k35k2-tm6y3:/etc/nginx.conf.d/app.config.json
    The app.config.json file is copied from the local machine's directory to the pod's directory.
  12. Restart or reload the service for the changes to take effect.
    All the changes are reflected in the Mobile Workspace once a user logs in.
