The control database is replacing the flat files previously used to store data for form families in OCR for AnyDoc.
Do the following to create the control database:
-
Locate and then launch the Conversion Assistant tool. The OCR for AnyDoc Conversion Assistant wizard is displayed.
-
Click Next. The Database Connection screen is displayed.
Note:
Only one new database is required for the control tables.
-
Click New to create a new database. The Add Connection screen is displayed.
-
In the Name field, type a name for the database connection. This name can be as simple as calling it Production.
Note:
This is not the database name, but a friendly name for the connection string. Most likely a dba will dictate the name of the database of they will take our recommendation of AnyDocCtrlDB or similar.
-
In the Connection field, click Build to create the connection to a database. The Choose Connection String dialog box is displayed.
- Click the drop-down arrow in the OLE DB Provider field. Several clients that are available for various database connections are displayed. Since we are using a SQL 16 Express instance, select the SQL Server Native Client 11.0 from the list. Upon selecting a database, the Enter a server or file name section becomes available.
- In the Server or file name field, enter a valid server that can be used for the database connection. You must enter the server name and then the instance name. For example, TPA-TS01\SQL16Express.
-
In the Log on to the server section, you must choose a method for logging on to the database server.
-
Do one of the following to choose a log on method:
-
Select the Use Windows NT Integrated Security option to use this method to log on.
-
Select the Use a specific user name and password option to use this method to log on. Then, enter a user name and password to be used to log on to the server.
Note:If you are not sure which method to choose, please check with your local database administrator. In our case, we used the Windows NT Integrated Security option.
-
- If you have already created a database (not likely) select the database from the Initial catalog drop-down list. Otherwise, leave this field blank and AnyDoc will create a new database with a default name.
-
You can test the connection to your database. Depending on if a database has already been created or not, you will see one of the following:
-
If you want to test the connection, but have to create a new database, you can click Test Connection before you enter the new database name. A message box is displayed indicating the status of the test connection.
-
If you enter a new, non-existent database name, such as AnyDocCntIDB, and then click the Test Connection button, the following message box is displayed:
-
If you had already created a database prior to testing the connection, you would be able to select the database from the Initial catalog drop-down list.
-
-
Click OK. The Add Connection dialog box is displayed with the connection information displayed in the Connection field.
If the database has not yet been created, the following message box is displayed:
-
Click Yes to continue. The Conversion Assistant screen is displayed with the new database name in the Name field. Connection details are also displayed for the database that will be used.
-
Click Next. The Conversion Assistant screen is displayed, allowing you to choose control path options.
