The following are some guidelines for total set balancing. Also included are some differences in the display between total set balancing and batch balancing or document set balancing:
-
The Filter buttons do not appear on the toolbar. They are used exclusively during batch and document set balancing.
-
The Insert and Insert Total buttons are disabled if items are displayed in ascending or descending order. Inserts are relative to the selected line, and would be needlessly confusing if the items did not display in the order they appear in the document.
-
Page breaks indicate the end of a page and are selected by using the [Up Arrow] and [Arrow Down] navigation keys. When selected, an area at the bottom of that page displays and is highlighted. This allows you to add detail items at the bottom of the page to the total set.
-
Details are always inserted prior to the selected line. Totals are always inserted after the selected line, and cause the total set to split unless the insertion is done after the last item in the total set. For example, if you select a page break at the end of page two (“End Page 2”), then the inserted detail is added to the end of page two. If you select the line following the page break, the inserted detail is added to the top of page three.
-
A total set ends when a Total (footer) line occurs.
-
If you define multiple summations, inserting an item adds a complete line by inserting a corresponding item into each summation. All inserted items are flagged as such.
