The Administration Portal allows you to manage users, groups, roles, and authentication options within your Content Innovation Cloud account.

Authentication is the process of verifying the identity of a user. Once a user is authenticated, the user's assigned groups and roles determine the applications the user can access and also what a user can do with those applications.

Users can be authenticated using the following methods:

Federated Authentication
Federated authentication (or federated identity) allows for single sign-on (SSO) integrations using the SAML 2.0 protocol. With federated authentication, the responsibility of authentication is delegated to an external identity provider. You can add external identity providers to your Content Innovation Cloud account using the Administration Portal. To begin, see Federated Authentication.
Local Authentication
Local authentication (or local identity) allows users to log on using local Content Innovation Cloud credentials. Content Innovation Cloud administrators are responsible for creating and managing user accounts that require local authentication. To manually create and manage user accounts, see User Administration.

Once users are authenticated, they can access Content Innovation Cloud applications and services based on their assigned user groups and roles. For information on managing user groups and assigning roles, see User Groups and Roles.
