User groups allow you to manage groups of users based on their roles.

A role is a set of permissions that govern access to a Content Innovation Cloud application. When a user group is assigned to a role, the role permissions are granted to every user in the assigned group. If a user belongs to multiple groups, the user inherits role permissions from every group the user belongs to.

To access an application, a user must belong to a group that has been assigned a role for that application. Available roles vary depending on the application.
