Account administrators can register the following types of external applications using the Content Innovation Cloud Administration Portal.

Service Applications

A service application interacts with Content Innovation Cloud APIs as a service user, using service-to-service communication. To allow access tokens to be issued to a service application, complete the following procedures:

Note: Service applications must use the custom API Credentials grant type when requesting tokens with an OpenID Connect scope. For example, if a service application requires access to the userinfo endpoint, the access token request must have a grant_type value of urn:hyland:params:oauth:grant-type:api-credentials.

Web Server Applications

A web server application calls Content Innovation Cloud APIs in the context of an end user. This type of integration is driven by end user interaction. To allow access tokens to be issued to a web server application, see Registering an External Application.
