Service users provide a user context for external service applications to call Content Innovation Cloud APIs.
The following procedure describes how to create a service user and assign it to user groups. You also have the option to register the service application that will use the new service user.
To create a service user:
- Open the Administration Portal.

Select the Identity tab under the banner.
The Internal Users page is displayed.
- In the sidebar, click Service Users.

Click Create Service User.
The Create Service User wizard is displayed.
- Enter a name for the service user in the Username field.

Click Next Step.
The User Group page is displayed.

Assign the service user to one or more user groups.
To interact with Content Innovation Cloud applications, the service user must be assigned to user groups that provide the appropriate level of role-based access.
- To assign the service user to user groups, select each group the service user should belong to from the Unassigned select list.
- To assign the service user to user groups at a later time, do not select any groups.

Click Next Step.
The Register New Client page is displayed.

Choose whether to register a new service application.
Entering an application name both registers the service application as an external application and maps the service user to that application. If you do not register the service application now, you can do it later as described under Registering an External Application.
- To register a service application and map it to this service user, enter a name for the service application in the Application Name field.
- To register the service application later, leave the Application Name field blank.

Click Next Step.
The Review page is displayed.

Review the information you provided for the new service user.
- To create the service user using the values provided, click Create Service User.
- To change a value, click the associated step from the top of the wizard. Update the information as needed.
If you clicked Create Service User, the Summary page is displayed. -
Record the necessary information.
If you registered a new service application, the summary includes the auto-generated client ID and client secret for the service application. The client ID and client secret values must be shared with the service application to allow it to request authentication tokens from the Content Innovation Cloud.
Note: Copy the client secret to a secure location. It will not be shown again after you close the Summary page. - Click Close.
