This section describes external client credential stores and how system administrators can create them.

An external client credential enables external apps and orchestrations to store both OAuth (Open Authentication) 2.0 access and refresh tokens in the Workday credential store. It also enables external apps to communicate with the Workday APIs and UCEB (Unified Content Enablement Backend) – a multi-tenant, cloud-based backend service.

You must create external client credential store entries and configure them through the Create External Client CredStore task in Workday to communicate with the Workday APIs, UCEB service, and run an orchestration.

Note:
  • Hyland for Workday uses external client credential stores to securely store credentials required by application services. The credential stores that you must create depend on the authentication method, services, and features configured for your deployment.

  • For more information, refer to the Set Up Integration System User Authentication for Apps section on Workday Developer Portal documentation. If you do not yet have access to the Workday Developer Portal, contact your Workday administrator
