You need a valid and trusted SSL server certificate to run the Web applications and APIs. For testing purposes, you can also use a self-signed certificate. See Creating a Self-Signed Certificate for more information.
To set up a default website for SSL:
  1. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, in the Connections pane on the left, expand Sites.
  2. Right-click Default Website and then select Edit Bindings.
  3. In the Site Bindings dialog box, click Add.
  4. In the Add Site Binding dialog box, from the Type drop-down list, select https.
  5. From the SSL certificate drop-down list, select a valid SSL certificate.
  6. Click OK and then click Close.
This Default Web Site now has SSL binding and can be accessed using HTTPS.
