Each time a user connects to a session on a Remote Desktop Server, the user's Windows profile is loaded or created on that server. The type of user profile selected when configuring users that will access OnBase in a server farm has an impact on OnBase functionality. For example, in the OnBase Client, several user-specific settings are saved within the user's profile, such as toolbar customizations, the storage location for EDM Briefcase, and Application Enabler Client settings. If a user's profile is not properly configured for a server farm environment, these settings may not be available from session to session, since the user may not always connect to the same server in the server farm.

It is considered a best practice to utilize the Remote Desktop Services user profile type when configuring OnBase in a server farm to ensure that any changes users make are available, regardless of the server to which they connect. A Remote Desktop Services profile can also be configured to establish a second home folder that is used by applications in the server farm environment. Since some OnBase modules require a unique, secure location to place files, this option is ideal for users accessing OnBase in a server farm environment. Files placed in this second home folder are always available to OnBase, regardless of the server to which a user connects in a given session.

Note:

For information on configuring user profiles, see Microsoft Windows documentation.
