The HP Connect for OnBase button is added to your HP device(s) through the HP Web Jetadmin software. The server running the HP Web Jetadmin software must have access to the OnBase-HP Web Server's installation files.

If a button has not been previously deployed using the HP Web Jetadmin software, refer to Configuring HP Devices to Display the HP Connect for OnBase Button for information on adding a button to your HP Device.

If a button has already been deployed using the HP Web Jetadmin software, a new DeviceConfiguration.xml file with altered values must be created before the HP Web Jetadmin can be used to deploy the new button.

To edit the configuration file to accommodate the new button:

  1. Open the DeviceConfiguration.xml file. This new DeviceConfiguration.xml file was copied from the old OnBase-HP web server in the Copying the Integration for HP Connect Installation Files section and is located in the bin sub-folder of the OnBase-HP web server's installation files (by default, it is located in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\[Folder Created by Copying HP OnBase Connect] \bin\Resources ).
  2. Locate the <id> element and change it to a different unique value. Changing a letter to a number will qualify as a new value.
For example <id>E7FB15BA-3DD2-41B0-B15B-C398F56525E0</id> could be changed to <id>17FB15BA-3DD2-41B0-B15B-C398F56525E0</id>.
    Note:

The new ID must be formatted in the same manner as the original and must be a hexadecimal value. The ID must be a valid GUID.

  3. Locate the <common:value>HP Connect for OnBase </common:value> element. Change the value to something that will be useful to users. The new value will be shown as the name of the new button.
  4. Locate the <common:value>Scan documents into OnBase </common:value> element. Change the value to something that will be useful to users. The new value will be shown as the description of the new button.
  5. Save and close the configuration file.
  6. Follow the steps outlined in Configuring HP Devices to Display the HP Connect for OnBase Button to use the Web Jetadmin software to deploy the button.
    Note:

When browsing to the configuration file during Web Jetadmin configuration, ensure that you are selecting the newly copied and altered DeviceConfiguration.xml file and not the original configuration file in the HP OnBase Connect folder.
