An active network connection is not required to run Hyland Migrate. However, it is required for the following purposes:
- Enabling data transfer
A network connection is required between the servers hosting Hyland Migrate and the source or target systems, such as network file systems, S3, Alfresco, Azure Data Lake Storage, and others.
- Connectivity to a SQL Server database
Most migration types require a connection to a SQL Server database to queue the migration based on a database query, as well as for logging purposes (if enabled). If SQL Server is not installed locally, then Hyland Migrate requires a network connection to the SQL Server instance, typically on port 1433.
- Connectivity to Amazon S3
Migrations to or from S3 buckets require a network connection to reach the specific S3 bucket. For enhanced security, access to S3 buckets can be limited by allowing connections only from specific S3 endpoint URLs.
