The Mapping section allows you to create complex mappings between source and target metadata. This process involves specifying how data should be modified during migration to be compliant with the target system's requirements. This is accomplished by using a set of predefined tools and methods within a user-friendly interface, eliminating the need for coding or scripting.
When configuring the Mapping section, consider the following:
- The required pre-filled attribute mappings, customized to your migration type, may be already
displayed in the
Details
Panel,
as shown in the following image:Note: Depending on the migration type, the number and type of these mappings may vary.
- Each attribute mapping allows you to adjust, transform, or modify the values of an attribute
during a process of migrating data from one system to another. This involves setting
a fixed value, deriving the value from another attribute, transforming the value, or
applying a set of conditions. For more information on configuring a mapping, see
Configuring Attribute Mapping.Note: Prior to configuring attribute mapping, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the terminology and layout of this section. For more information on these topics, see Terminology and Navigating the Mapping Section.
- Mappings are executed sequentially for each object, based on their order in the interface. In
the following example, DocTypeName is set to execute first,
followed by DocDate, and FileTypeNum
is set to execute last.
To reorder mappings according to your needs, see Reordering Mappings.
- To create a new or existing attribute mapping, see Creating a New Attribute Mapping and Creating an Existing Attribute Mapping.
