To test a form before deploying it in Perceptive Content, complete the following steps.

  1. Open the example XML file you copied to your folder in any XML editor and save it with a different name for testing purposes.
  2. In the copy of the XML file, put values in each element.
Placing a value in each element enables you to verify that your XSL tags are correct and that real data is correctly saved to the XML instances after the form is deployed in Perceptive Content Forms Server.
  3. Save the file.
  4. Double-click on the XML file copy to open it in your browser.
  5. If the file opens and displays the XML code, rather than presenting the transformation, do the following actions:
    1. Click File > Open and then browse to the file.
    2. Open the XML file and verify that there is a XSL stylesheet reference at the top to the correct XSL file.
    3. Ensure that the filename of the stylesheet in the reference matches the actual filename of the XSL file. If the reference is missing, copy a reference tag from an example form, and then modify the reference filename to match the XSL filename.
    4. If there are any HTML/XSL controls where the values from the copied XML file do not appear, correct the XSL tags for those controls. Ensure that values appear in each HTML control.
    5. Save the file, and then test it in a browser again.
  6. Verify your template presentation, any JavaScript, and CSS.
  7. When you are done testing and are satisfied the files are ready to deploy in Perceptive Content, remove the reference in the XML file to the XSL filename, if you used one to test your files, and then save the XML file again.
