A filter is an optional component of a view that serves as a saved search which narrows the view results.

In a filter, you add conditions that Perceptive Content evaluates in addition to the view conditions. You can also modify the column layout separately from the view. When you click a filter, the results always appear automatically. You can create a prompted or variable filter condition.

Views can include public and private filters. When you create a filter in View Designer, that filter becomes available to all users with access to the corresponding view. It is called a public filter. When a user creates and saves a filter, it is available only to that user and is called a private filter. View managers can publish a private filter, which then becomes a public filter available to all users with access to the corresponding view.
