Some Lotus Notes Databases are restricted by permissions and require authentication via an appropriate User ID. Perceptive Search uses Notes Extension Manager Add-in to intercept the password prompts from Lotus Notes and supply the password for the ID file used. You will be prompted to enter this password when configuring Lotus Notes indexing rule for the first time.
You can also use the Lotus Notes client to handle the security by following these steps:
When Perceptive Search connects to Lotus Notes, by default it will use the same NOTES.INI configuration file as the local Lotus Notes client. If you switch User ID in the client, the User ID in the default NOTES.INI will also change. This may have impact on Perceptive Search ability to establish connection if you didn't configure Lotus Notes client to handle the security as noted above. In such a case you may create a dedicated NOTES.INI to be used by Perceptive Search.
To create configuration file for Perceptive Search, simply make a copy of your default NOTES.INI that have the desired User ID listed in it. To be sure that the NOTES.INI contains the desired User ID, before making a copy of the file, switch to this ID in Lotus Notes client, open your mail database to ensure you are using the correct ID, then close the client.
You need to write the path to the dedicated for Perceptive Search variant of NOTES.INI in the Windows registry. To do so you can use Registry Editor.
Warning: Incorrect use of Registry Editor may cause problems and seriously damage your system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk. Consult your operating system manual for information about how to back up, restore, and modify the registry.
