The indexing and retrieval speed that you will encounter in every day use may be more or less than specified above. Actual performance is dependent upon the PC processor speed, disk access speed and the efficiency with which the disk has been configured. The figures quoted indicate an average level of performance for a Pentium 4 (2GHz) Desktop class machine.
Users with faster machines, better hard disks or disk cache software can expect better performance. Perceptive Search is also dependent on the available RAM during Updates.
The overhead of the Perceptive Search indexes is greatly influenced by the entries in the common word list. It is recommended that index administrators review the Word Frequency report to identify words that should be added to the Common Word list.
