Categories
Perceptive Enterprise Search supports the categorization of documents. The document categories can later
be used for sorting, filtering and presenting in the result list. The Perceptive Enterprise Search categorizer
can automatically generate the categories for you or you can set category rules that
utilize metadata or file patterns.
When you create a new index Perceptive Enterprise Search automatically enables categorization. During the indexing
process Perceptive Enterprise Search will analyze your data to find the best suited set of categories. The automatic
categorization works best when your data is well structured into logical folders. A document
may belong to only one category.
The Categories page of an Index shows you the automatic and manual category rules. Please note
that the automatic rules are for reference only and cannot be modified. When assigning a
category to a document Perceptive Enterprise Search will first check the manual rules for a match before checking the
automatic rules.
