Subscribed Searches allows your users to register a query that will be executed regularly on the server. Perceptive Enterprise Search will then email the user with any new or changed content that matches their search criteria.
This is a very useful way of keeping up to date with documents as they come in, and ensuring that you know what's been added to your index. It is a particularly valuable tool if your index changes often, for instance if you receive documents from an external source on a regular basis.
The Subscribed Search keeps track of what it's previously brought to the user's attention, and also which documents the user actually browsed. This way, when the Subscribed Search alerts the user, they know it is something new, or an old document which has changed and now meets the registered criteria.
Remember that the Subscribed Search is checking your index, not your actual hard drives, so it is unaware of new or changed files until they've been Added or Updated to the index.
