Search Defaults

The search defaults are used as the default settings of all searches when there is no override setting sent with the search request. The enables you to modify the default search behavior without modifying your search pages.

Search Options

Conflation

Specifies the default level of word tense conflation to apply to each token.

Broad Incorporates as many tense forms as possible, which may include words with different meanings to the one being searched.
Narrow Restricts the expansion to simple forms such as past tense and plurals.
Plurals Will only search plural forms (i.e., it only adds -s or -es to the word) in the query.
Off No word tense conflation will be applied
Spelling Tips

Indicates if Spelling Tips should be shown in the "No Results" or "Results" templates.

Synonyms

Indicates if synonyms should be expanded. Perceptive Enterprise Search supports synonyms at index and website scope.

Thesaurus

Indicates if the thesaurus should be used to find alternate words for each search keyword.

Sort

Indicates the column by which to sort the results.

Remove duplicate documents from the result list

Indicates if duplicate documents should be removed from the result list. To enable this option, you must set sort to anything other than Natural Order and select Yes, and also check the De-duplicate documents settings under Indexes --> --> Indexing Rules --> Index Options under Other.

Language Pack

Turns on language detection and enables language common words.

Best Bets

A best bet is an administrator defined relationship between a particular search and document. It enables you to ensure that a particular document will always appear at the top of the result list for a given search.

Enabled

Indicates if best bets should be processed.

Maximum Items

Specifies the maximum number of best bets to include in the result list.

Threshold

Specifies the relevances threshold that a best bet must match to be included in the result list. Best bets use a fuzzy comparison working out if a document should be included, this will result in a score between 0 and 1. The closer the score is to 1, the better the match. A score of zero indicates no relevance at all.

Ranking Method

The ranking method can use different comparison methods when evaluating a best bet. Try each to find which provides the best support for your best bets.
