Viewing the list of documents in an index
The Document List report displays the names of all the documents that make up the
current index. You can specify a sort order, or filter the list according to characters
within the document name.
To generate the Document List:
- Start Perceptive Enterprise Search - Local Administration Console
- Open the index you wish to modify, you can do this by either:
- Selecting it from the My Index Catalog list
- Select File > Open an Index from the menu and browse to the location
where the index is stored
- From the menu, select Index > Statistics > Document List
- You can control the output of the list by specifying:
- Reverse chronological order
Sorts the documents with the most recently indexed first. - Chronological order
Sorts the documents from the first indexed to the most recently indexed. - Alphabetical order
Sorts documents alphabetically by file path, for example C:\AARDVARK\ZOO.DOC appears before
C:\ZOO\BIOCHEM.DOC.. - Document names containing the characters
View only those documents which have paths or filenames that contain specified
characters.
- You can log the output of a reindex by clicking the Log button.
- Click OK to begin.
Output
Perceptive Search will compile the list and display it in the window. The
Document List will display according to the options you specified.
Each document's index number, format, number of words, path and file name are
displayed. At the bottom of the list, Perceptive Search shows you the total number of
documents and the total number of words in the index. index document numbers
will not necessarily be sequential if documents have been removed from the
index.
