New Index Wizard - Index Type

If you selected either Shared Corporate Information or Other, you will be prompted to select an index type. This is the default set of indexing rules for the index.

The index type can be one of the following:

• Blank Index
  Creates an empty index configuration, you must add indexing rules to by going to Index > Content Sources, see Indexing Rules for details.
• File System
  Creates an index of files on a file system. The file system can be either local or networked, choose this option if you can navigate and see the documents in Windows Explorer.
• Website
  Creates an index of the content of a website, you will be prompted to provide a URL.
• Other
  Create an index of another source, these include:
  • FTP Server
  • SQL Database
  • Scripting Rules
  • Document Management Systems
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • TRIM Context
    • EMC Documentum

Click Next when ready, you will be directed to the Index Name Page.
