DMS Rules
A Document Management System controls how your organization creates, reviews,
publishes and consumes documents. They generally have strict workflow to ensure
that the correct metadata is entered by the author to ensure that they can be
easily found in the future.
Perceptive Enterprise Search can easily index both the document content and its corresponding metadata,
allowing users to easily find documents without requiring them to enter
countless metadata fields into their search.
Perceptive Enterprise Search supports the following Document Management Systems:
- Documentum
- Microsoft SharePoint Server or SharePoint Services
- TRIM Context
- Worldox
Creating a new index
The indexing wizard allows you to create a new index of a Document
Management System, to do so:
- Navigate the the Indexes page of the Perceptive Enterprise Search Administration Console.
- Click the New Index button on the toolbar.
- Select Other Index Types and click the Next button.
- Choose the Document Management System you wish to index and click the
Next button.
- Enter a name for the next index and click the Next button.

Adding a Document Management Rule to an existing index
You can add a DMS rule to existing "standard" indexes. A standard index is
an index that is not spidered, remote or federated. To add a DMS rule:
- Open the DMS rule section for your index, this is accessible from:
- Indexes > [IndexName] > SQL Rules
- User Indexes > [User] > Indexes > [IndexName] > SQL Rules
- Click the New DMS Rule button on the toolbar.
- Choose the Document Management System you wish to index and click the
Next button.
