Backing up your indexes

In addition to observing normal backup procedures for all of your files, you should take particular care to backup your Perceptive Search indexes before starting an update or other processes. They may be susceptible to corruption if you experience a power failure or other error during processing. Each index is normally compiled of four files, located in the index directory. These are

If you need to recover the index files due to disk error or hardware failure, and your index files are not as up-to-date as your documents, simply restore the index files then run the update process.

The files that constitute the index cannot be restored separately as they are interdependent. Please ensure you restore all of the ISYS.IX? files. If one is lost, you will have to re-Create or Reindex your index.
